The Main House, which faces State Street, is a three story Georgian colonial. After serving as a private residence for over 50 years, EagleHill’s life as a retreat and conference center began with the acquisition of neighboring properties, bringing the total number of guest houses to four. Luxurious and spacious accommodations can be found in the Main House, which also features a large kitchen, several dining and meeting areas and a grand fireplace. The third floor of the main house serves as a sporting and game room complete with pool table, board games and movie library. The Poolhouse Cottage offers added privacy and generously appointed accommodations for honeymooners, the chairman of the board or your group’s VIP. With a queen size bed, steam room, whirlpool bath and large sauna, you can unwind and experience the ultimate in country style living In addition, Grandpa Thomas’ House and Granny Jane’s House bring the total number of guest rooms to fifteen (15), accommodating up to sixty (60) people configured for retreats, reunions and groups. Our recently expanded and remodeled Gathering Room offers flexibility with meeting space for groups of sixty to eighty (60-80) persons. The Natural serenity of rural Texas is made even more warm and pleasurable at EagleHill with a lighted professional tennis court, bandstand and large swimming pool on site. The grounds are secured by a wrought iron and brick column fence and are fully lighted by picturesque Victorian styled park lights. In addition to the swimming pool, lighted tennis court, basketball hoop, there is now a new Victory Garden. Lavish wildlife and magnificent wildflowers make EagleHill Retreat Center’s a Mecca for hunters, bird watchers and wildflower lovers. During the winter months, EagleHill becomes the premier hunting lodge in Eagle Lake, which is known as the “Goose Hunting Capital of the World.” Goose hunters meet their guides for breakfast at EagleHill and then hunt pheasant in the afternoon. Spring transforms EagleHill into a bird watcher’s paradise as fields of wildflowers explode in a glorious Texas welcome. Bird watchers and wildflower enthusiast find EagleHill a most pleasurable and civilized retreat for their “April spring flings.” Things to do in the area include touring the Painted Churches of Fayette County and antiquing in nearby Wallis, Sealy and Historic Columbus. The Northington Plantation, a famous Civil War home complete with resident ghosts is just minutes away as is the Attwater Prairie-Chicken National Wildlife Refuge, which offers, tours year round. Golfers will find solace on the courses at either San Felipe [Stephen F. Austin Golf Club] or New Ulm [The Falls Country Club]. And, Eagle Lake and Columbus offer fine nine (9) hole golf courses. In addition, numerous fishing spots can be found on the Colorado River as it winds throughout the area.
